Philip Poole, global head of emerging markets at HSBC, tells CNBC-TV18 that the rally in equity markets will continue, but the road will not be smooth. Morgan Stanley's Ridham Desai : Nifty to touch 5800 before correction sets in
The jury is still out on whether the current surge in equities is the start of a roaring bull market or just another big bear market rally. The stock market's volatility and concerns about Europe's deepening financial crisis signals investors should remain cautious. However, the market's price structures are telling us that something different is going on, says Ridham Desai, managing director of Morgan Stanley. "The number of stocks that are crossing their 200-DMA is the best that we have seen since 2007 and that doesn't usually happen in a typical bear market rally," he highlights adding, "it tends to suggests that a few stocks are really making a turn for the better."

Morgan Stanley's Ruchir Sharma : when trend is not your friend, try patience
If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes. That old saw should be the operating rule on the financial marketplace, given how frequently and abruptly trends have tended to change in recent times. Markets are now in the midst of another dramatic climatic shift with all the gloom of 2011 making way for blue-sky projections. In a near statistical miracle, the worst performing countries, sectors and stocks are at the top of the league tables this year.

Templeton's Sivasubramaniam : avoid stocks with poor fundamentals
Prospective rate cuts, lower earnings downgrades and project fast-tracking by the government are likely to instill confidence in investors, though worries about deficits and capex slowdown remain, says Sivasubramanian KN, chief investment officer, Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund. Post the 2000-point market rally in January, the fund house has increased exposure to telecom and power firms and financial services institutions. It has cut investments in technology companies, as per the fund fact sheet. In an interview to ET, Sivasubramanian says investors need to be cautious about the sharp run-up in stocks without underlying fundamentals.
